My final two Polaroids for Roid Week Summer 2011. These were the last of decent shots I had left over from my trip out on Monday, and even still Im not 100% sure about one of them.  First is on SX70 with Polaroid ATZ film; second on the modified SX70 using TIP PX600SSFF.  Alice In Chains songs to round the week off.

Go and have a look at the Group on Flickr [link above] and give yourself an hour or so of looking through the photo pool. some truly amazing stuff in there.

Day Three of Roid Week Summer 2001 is here. I shot these two at the same time as the others Ive used for Roid Week so far, but I left them a few days before I scanned them to allow the TheImpossibleProject PX70 ColorShade FirstFlush to "cook" properly and for more of the image to come out. It worked!  Both of these are flawed images.  The right hand side [In From the Storm] is too dark and has a poor chemical pod in the middle, but the details was retained in the sky; and the other one [You Got Me Floatin'] has some weird thing going on.  No idea what it is, but it pops up on a few on my 'roids over the last year.  I like it.  Both named after Hendrix songs.

[Photography] Another Four Polaroids.

Anyway But Maybe. This Is Not An Exit.

The Rest Will Follow.Break The Silence.

A new batch of my latest four Polaroids from my series of shots from in and around Thorndon Country Park in Essex.  At least 2 of these (if not all four) will make it into my final project/book.  These were taken on a mixture of TheImpossibleProject PX680 beta film released in April this year, and PX70 ColorShade FirstFlush from last October.  Both sets of pictures were taken on a Polaroid SX70, the PX70 shots on a standard SX70 Alpha; and the PX680 shots on an SX70 Alpha that has had the ND filter over the electronic eye removed to part compensate for the difference in the standard ISO levels.

Both sets of shots were sheilded from the light upon ejection from the camera using the "darkslide between rollers" method as recomended by TIP, which I have found does produce the best results.

[Photography] The Gruffalo.

The Gruffalo.

We found this guy in Thorndon Country Park, hidden away in a clearing in the trees.  I had seen the wooden sculpture sitting in the rangers garden as I cycled by it a few weeks ago so we on the look out for it.  He was a fullsize (6 and a bit foot) Gruffalo, carved out of a single bit of wood (form what I could tell), very impressive and really like the images in the book.

Only had my 2 Polaroid SX70's on me and I had just finished a pack of PX680 in the Tan SX, but had the Red SX loaded with PX70ColorShade FirstFlush that I purchased last October.  The middle pod as started to degrade, but the film is still great.  Last pack of it.  Sad times.

Anyway, Samuel loves the Gruffalo stories but was a bit freaked being confronted by a 6' version, he wanted us to make sure it wasn't a real one before he would go near it.  After Daddy & Mummy has shaken the Gruffalo's hand, he was more happy with touching it.  Lauren shot the boys (Samuel still in his cycling helmet) on her camera here.

[Photography] Four PX680 Polaroids.

Standing Still.We Float.

I Stay Away.Not For You.

The latest four ImpossibleProject PX680 Beta Polaroids I've put on Flickr.  More of my stuff around Thorndon Country Park to be added to my project/book - I've now got over half the 70 images I need, hopefully I'll have it sorted by late autumn this year and the book sorted not long after that.

[Photography] ImpossibleProject PX680 Beta.

Borrowed Time.

Drain You.Unbroken.Sky Chaser High. Now Is The Colour.

The ImpossibleProject has released new colour film for Polaroid cameras. Here is a selection of my shots from my first pack of the beta release of the film, taken back in April. I have 2 packs left of the beta and will be buying some of the FirstFlush when I can.

Shots were taken on a Polaroid SX-70 Alpha camera, with the ND filter over the electronic-eye removed to compensate of the faster ISO of the film (it's ISO 600ish and was deigned for use in Polaroid 600 cameras, rather than the SX-70 which is designed to use film of approx ISO125).  Removing the ND filter and turning the exposure compensation dial all the way to darken gave me the exact colour/contrast balance I wanted.

The film is excellent, so much more than I could have hoped for less than a year after they launched the FirstFlush of the (very) experimental PX600 and PX100 monochrome films.  TheImpossibleProject have learnt a lot in that time.  There seems to be a much better UV protection in place, less chemical leaks and much better longevity of the final image.  Also, this film produces a brilliant dynamic range.  Pure blacks are placed alongside clean whites; with shadow and highlight detail up there with the much-missed Polaroid 600 consumer film that so many of us know from childhood.  In fact, if anything I would say this film has a stronger contrast that suits my images more that 600.  I'm impressed, as I have been with most of the Impossible films I have used over the last 12 months.  Sure, there are some imperfections still.  You can see those small white dots in the images? Im assured by Impossible that these are only on the beta and wont be on the final releases. Same goes to the small bits of "flame" light leaks.

I really must get out and shoot those other 2 packs....
